Am I old or is skincare for 10-year-olds a little weird?

Went to Sephora on Saturday and the skincare section was full of kids. Like, 9-10 years old. Swatching retinol serums and $70 creams. One girl was asking her mom for a vitamin C serum because her skin "looks tired".

She's 10. Her skin has never been tired a day in its life.

I'm not trying to be the "kids these days" person but... are you all seeing this too?

Yes!! My niece is 11 and asked for an "anti-aging serum" for her birthday. I said "what are you aging from" and she rolled her eyes so hard I heard it.

The worst part is that the stuff they want can actually irritate young skin. Retinoids and strong acids are not for 10-year-olds. A gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is all any kid needs.

To be fair, when I was 11 I wanted the Bath & Body Works body glitter and every Herbal Essences product in existence. This is just the 2024 version. Except more expensive. And with retinol.

I blame the videos. "Get ready with me" at 10 years old, 7 products, filmed like an ad. They copy what they see. The adults making those videos should know better.
Currently on my 4th BG3 playthrough. Send help.

I gave my niece the cleanser + moisturizer + sunscreen talk. She called me boring. I bought her a fun lip balm so she'd stop hating me.
