Slugging: anyone tried it?

Apparently "slugging" is when you put a layer of Vaseline over your whole face at night to lock in moisture. Very popular right now, it's all over my feed.

My face is dry and flaky from tretinoin so I'm tempted. But I also have a white pillowcase and a girlfriend who sleeps on my side of the bed.

I do it 2-3 nights a week in winter. It's great for dry skin. Use a towel on your pillow or an old pillowcase. Slugging on a nice silk one is a crime.

Vaseline on your face is literally what everyone's grandma did. tiktok just gave it a name

If you're acne prone, be careful. Vaseline itself doesn't clog pores, but it traps whatever's under it. Make sure your face is clean first.

good to know. my acne is mostly under control with the tret, it's the dryness that's killing me

Tret + slugging is a really common combo. Just don't put the Vaseline right on top of the tret, it can make it more irritating. Tret, wait a bit, moisturizer, then a thin layer of Vaseline.

Tried it 3 nights. Face is way less flaky. Pillowcase: covered with a towel. Girlfriend: kissed me goodnight and then said "why are you so slippery". Mixed reviews.
