So there's this whole thing on beauty blogs right now where you wash your face with oil. Castor oil and olive oil, or sunflower, depending on which blog you read. Oil dissolves oil, you massage it in, steam it off with a hot washcloth, done. No soap.

I have oily skin. Washing it with oil felt insane. I did it anyway. Day 1 report: my face feels incredibly soft and I also look like a glazed donut.

Will update.

I've been doing it for 2 months! Give it at least two weeks. The first week is rough.

the glazed donut look is how you know it's working (I have no idea if this is true)

Too much castor oil will dry you out, it's weirdly drying for an oil. If your skin feels tight afterwards, use more of the other oil. I'm at about 1 part castor to 4 parts sunflower.

I did half and half because the first blog said so. my skin felt tight! this explains it

Honestly for me it was a nightmare. Olive oil broke me out like nothing else. Little closed bumps all over my forehead. Took a month to clear. Everyone's different I guess, just be careful.

Week 2: switched to 1:4 like embergirl said. Less tight. A couple of new bumps on my chin but I don't know if that's the oil or my period. Still a glazed donut but a happier one.

Final update, 6 weeks in: I'm keeping it for taking off makeup at night but went back to a normal cleanser in the morning. So: not a miracle, not a disaster. Better than I expected. Thank you all for the advice!
