Is a $60 moisturizer actually better than a $10 one?

Went to the Clinique counter for the first time and the lady sold me the 3-step system and a moisturizer. $94 total. Walked out in a daze.

Now I'm reading online that Cetaphil does the same thing for $10. Did I just get scammed by a woman in a lab coat at Macy's?

The lab coats get everyone. It's the lab coats. They're not doctors, they're salespeople in nice coats.

Not a scam exactly, Clinique is fine stuff, but you're paying for the brand and the counter. Price has very little to do with how well something works.

The Dramatically Different yellow lotion is honestly a nice moisturizer. The clarifying lotion (the toner) is mostly alcohol and it dried me out a lot. YMMV.

@roguerogue_64 the clarifying lotion stung like crazy and I thought that meant it was working

@cyber_cass stinging almost never means it's working, it usually means your skin is annoyed with you

Keep the receipt! Macy's took back my opened Clinique stuff when it broke me out. Worth asking.

Returned the toner, kept the yellow moisturizer, bought Cetaphil for washing. Spent $40 instead of $94. Pretty proud of myself tbh
