Half-Life 2 is out and Steam hates me

Bought it at midnight. Got home. Installed it off five CDs. Steam says it's 'preparing to unlock' and has said that for two hours.

I've been waiting for this game since E3 2003. I can wait another two hours. I can. I'm fine.

same here, the Steam servers are melting. try again around 3am, it worked for me then

who decided you need the internet to play a single player game. I have dial-up. I'm going to unlock it some time next week
